Reader’s theater is an excellent way to teach science content while improving fluency, comprehension and giving students an opportunity to shine. While providing authentic reasons to read and reread, students can analyze characters, plots and other story elements in an interdisciplinary study of these topics.

President of the Solar System club -If the sun resigned, who would be president? Eight planets, Halley's Comet, two asteroids and the dwarf planet Pluto put in their two cents about who should be the next president. Each planet's unique characteristics and connections with Roman mythology are covered.

Interview with Astronauts – meet three African American astronauts who boldly went where few have gone before.

Milky Way’s Got Talent – What if the heavenly bodies entered a talent show? Who would win? A panel of judges (Galileo, Copernicus, Hypatia and Jocelyn Bell) choose who will represent our solar system at the Vega Verdict and beyond.

Cast has 3 male, 6 female and 13 either roles with a run time of 20 minutes. Can be done as a readers theater or staged production. Improve reading comprehension, fluency and making interdisciplinary connections between language arts and science.

A 13 page .PDF contains info, graphics, graphic organizers and writing prompts to use after reading the play.

Scripts can be adapted to a full production. Reading level of scripts ranges from 4.7-6.2.
