What educators are saying

Myself and my students loved this resource! They were able to work on shapes but in a fun way! They worked on numbers, shapes, cutting (hand eye coordination and fine motor)
My students loved picking different shapes and creating their own shape pumpkin. Super easy set up for me and my class.

Description

Reinforce shape identification with this Jack-O'-Lantern/ pumpkin craftivity for Halloween or fall. Your kindergarten students will make a "Shape-O'-Lantern" out of triangles, rectangles, squares, and circles! When they finish their craft, students will count and record the shapes used. Check out the preview to learn more.

To use this Halloween shape craftivity...

  • First, print the shapes. I’ve included two different versions. There is a black-filled version or a white version with no color. In my example, I used some black-colored shapes and copied some white ones on green paper.
  • You can copy the white shapes onto any color you like!
  • Print the “Shape-O-Lantern” recording sheet and cut it in half.
  • Print the pumpkins. There is an orange version included or a white version that you can copy on orange paper.
  • Give your students the shapes. You may choose to cut them first or just hand out the papers cut in halves, fourths, or sixths and let your students cut out their own shapes.
  • Let your students create their “Shape-O-Lantern” using as many shapes as they can!
  • When students finish, they can record how many of each shape they used on the recording sheet.
  • Give students a large piece of construction paper to glue their recoding sheet and “Shape-O-Lantern” on.
  • Display them in your classroom or hallway!
