What educators are saying

I have a particular student that is very resistant to showers, baths, washing hands and his parents were looking for some different resources and social stories that they could try.
This resource was exactly what I was looking for! Great visuals and easy to understand language. I'm excited to add these social stories to my collection and also use as a resource to send home to parents. Thank you!

Description

A Social Story is a positive tool to use with individuals who are displaying behaviors that you would like to modify.

The following 10 Social Stories are included in this set:

1. Washing Hands

2. Brushing Teeth

3. Covering Mouth

4. Using Deodorant

5. Taking a Shower

6. Using the Bathroom

7. Washing Face

8. Wearing Clean Clothes

9. Combing Hair

10. Clipping Nails

The social story should be read to the individual daily if possible. This will help ensure the best results.

Social Stories can be used by classroom teachers, Speech-Language Pathologists, parents/caregivers, Social Workers, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Instructional Assistants and any other person who works with/interacts with the individual.

The language of the social story is written in a positive tone. There is a strong focus on feelings in the story and changes are discussed positively. This positive focus is intentional and presents a positive way to adjust a behavior.

These Social Stories are written in broad terms. To individualize/personalize the Social Story, write on the page the new behavior you want the student to exhibit and read that as part of the story.

Also included in this product is a set of communication symbols that can be used with individuals who are non-verbal/minimally verbal. They can use these to request items they may need to be more successful. They can also be used to teach the individual these words.

To use/assemble the Social Story:

*Select the Social Story that is needed

*Cut each page on the dotted line (laminate if you want a more durable story)

*Staple one or 2 times on the left hand side or punch a hole in top left corner and put on a ring

*Read daily
