Description
In this inquiry activity you build a balloon rocket (leprechaun) and time it as it 'flies' across a room. you then challenge students to create a leprechaun using simple materials that will fly in a faster time than yours.
This is a fun way to teach Newton's Third Law of Motion, but there are 2 versions of the challenge included...2 for upper level students who have learned the law, and one for lower levels who are just learning about forces.
Included in this activity is an information sheet on Newton's Third Law of Motion with an explanation and examples for you to use to introduce the balloon Rockets activity!
