This was an excellent resource that helped students to demonstrate their understanding of the content being taught.

Description

Welcome to the game of Survivor!

This introductory lesson is perfect for any collaborative classroom and utilizes text annotation, finding textual evidence, forming an opinion based on text, and respectful debate all in one fun activity!

The Game:

Students must determine 5 plane crash survivors to be rescued immediately and 5 to stay and attempt to survive on the island.

What's included?

  • Slides to accompany the lesson
  • A student-facing worksheet
  • A full lesson plan with objective and common core standards
  • An advanced vocabulary version

This is my favorite tried and true lesson I do in the first week of school. It is engaging to a wide range of students and sets the stage for a classroom in which many answers may be correct. It is the perfect introduction to what eventually evolves into Socratic Seminars in my classroom. Used in English, History, Debate, Theater classes and more!
