The Amazing Mouse Trap - Logic Puzzle and Writing Assignment

This is a great activity which can combine logical problem solving skills and either writing or oral presentation skills. It is the Amazing Mouse Trap. There are 24 cards which you have your students cut out and put together in order to make the machine work. (The idea came from the game Mouse Trap). Once the kids have correctly assembled the machine I have them do an extension activity. They must write a detailed description of how the machine works which takes a lot of creative writing and analyzing skills to make sure they incorporate all parts of the machine. I also have some students who will present their findings orally to the class. It is a great fun activity that is challenging.
