What educators are saying

My students loved this activity. It was fun creating their opinion pieces. No arguments were had. We celebrated by having pie!
This was a fun way to introduce opinion writing to my second graders. I like the graphic organizer too.

Description

Who doesn't love Thanksgiving food? I know my students and I always talk about our favorites, so I decided to use this topic as an opinion writing piece! This product includes a bubble map to brainstorm why they like their food best, a graphic organizer to organize a rough draft, and 4 options for pages for publishing. I include two pages with just room to write, and two pages with room to draw a picture (I personally like to see their picture!) When they are finished publishing their final draft, they get to color a picture that matches their favorite food. They cut it out, mount their writing and food picture on colored paper and BOOM! A perfect, seasonal writing craftivity. A class graph is included to graph the results of favorite foods and add in some math :)

The foods include are:

Pie
Turkey
Stuffing
Mashed Potatoes
Sweet Potatoes
Cranberries
Green Beans
Rolls

*Please note, these are the traditional Thanksgiving
food items, if a family celebrates with different foods,
they can draw that food on a paper and cut it out. They
can still do the writing even if their food is not included,
and it will be a perfect way to share about foods from
their culture!
