Description

56 editable slides that tell the story of the Glorious Revolution using primary source portraits and documents. A fun, engaging way to get students interested, with comprehensive teacher's notes to help you lead students in exploring these events!

Great history teaching means solid storytelling -- and now you can tell the story of the Glorious Revolution through pictures! 56 fully editable slides begin with Henry VIII and trace the religious question down to James II through clear, simple explanations and colorful illustrations. This presentation explains step by step:

---why members of Parliament would invite a foreign king to invade their country
---why today this is regarded as a step forward in liberty rather than a coup d'etat.

The presentation takes a "let's tell a story" approach and makes the topic engaging and fun for students. The presentation is comprehensive enough that teachers can use it to fully teach the topic of the Glorious Revolution -- it begins with the religious conflict in Henry VIII's time and traces the issue forward to demonstrate why the English were so opposed to letting a Catholic dynasty occupy the throne of their nation.

The presentation stands on its own, but can also be used for reviewing after students have studied the Glorious Revolution in their textbooks, or as a preview before you dive into the textbook presentation!

The download includes both a PowerPoint and a SmartBoard presentation in order to make it useful to teachers with differing tech setups in their classrooms. Both the PowerPoint and SmartBoard files are fully editable by teachers who have the corresponding software program. File types included in the zip file download are .pptx and .notebook.

There are about 14 content slides in the preview file but the full file has 56 and treats the topic in a comprehensive manner, including a detailed look at the English Bill of Rights and in the teacher's notes, an analysis of how it fundamentally differs from the U.S. Bill of Rights.

---> Another of my products: "Glorious Revolution/John Locke Questions" would coordinate extremely well with this product. The questions combined with the presentation would make a complete teaching unit on the Glorious Revolution. For more information see:
