This is a webquest activity that has students navigate four different online accounts related to the Great Chicago Fire, and analyze the similarities and differences between each account of the event. The accounts of this event are in a variety of formats, from multiple sources (firsthand accounts of the event, a video, and other primary source documents related to the Great Chicago Fire).
Students will determine whether each document is a firsthand or secondhand account, the author's purpose of each source, and analyze for important details/information about them. Students will then compare and contrast two of the documents, drawing on details from each text.
