Description

As a music teacher, I am an advocate for the arts. Some of the schools in my district offer dance classes but mine does not. I wanted to give my students a quick run-down on dance styles and history. This presentation is perfect for upper elementary and middle school ages. My future sister in-law Brynn has been a dancer since she was five and is now thirteen! She was kind enough to assist me in creating example videos for this presentation. Your students will be engaged when they see someone close to their age demonstrating each style. I also included examples from other dancers to provide a variety of examples.

The styles covered in this presentation are: ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, modern, acro, and folk. I also included more resources for you on the last slide. Each slide has a brief history and a fun fact about each style.

Enjoy!
