The unit tests in my AP Psychology course are as similar to the AP exam as possible. The format of the AP exam is 100 multiple-choice questions and 2 FRQ questions. My unit tests are half, 50 multiple choice questions & 1 FRQ, to help the students become familiar with the pacing and formatting. I currently teach on a block schedule so I have 80-minute class periods. 35 minutes for multiple choice and 25 minutes for one FRQ. When I previously taught in 50-minute class periods I would spread it out over 2 class periods. One period for multiple-choice plus reviewing the answers and then one day for the FRQ with peer grading. The AP exam is curved so I curve my exams as well, and give the students the grade based on their AP Score. If the student scores a 5, they get a 95%, 4 is an 85%, etc. (formulas/grading calculations are included). My students have benefited from this system because they know the difficulties of receiving a 5 and start thinking in terms of AP scores. I have also found that the scores are very similar to the AP scores I receive in early July. This bundle will save you the most time in teaching AP Psychology.
