What educators are saying
Thank you for taking the time to make this resource to share with fellow teachers, it is very appreciated!
My students did this as a math activity for Valentine's Day. They loved it and it got them really interested in trying more things like this.
Description
This Valentine's Day math activity provides students with practice graphing in all four quadrants on the coordinate plane. Coordinates include positive and negative, whole and half numbers (example: (6, -2.5)). Please note: There are a lot of coordinates that include 0.5! It's great for "early finishers" or can be used as an extra credit assignment. Perfect for Valentine’s Day/ the month of February!

Understand a rational number as a point on the number line. Extend number line diagrams and coordinate axes familiar from previous grades to represent points on the line and in the plane with negative number coordinates.
CCSS6.NS.C.6c
Find and position integers and other rational numbers on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram; find and position pairs of integers and other rational numbers on a coordinate plane.
