What educators are saying

This product was just what I needed! It was engaging and aligned with the target SOLs. My students really enjoyed it, too!
I LOVE the way these passages are laid out! The questions and format are very helpful for teaching students to use a text to answer questions!

Description

Close Reading: Winter- This 50 page product contains 8 winter-themed non-fiction close reading passages with evidence-based questioning sheets to go with each. Each passage comes in 2 different formats: whole page and half page with questions. This makes them great for differentiation! Can be used as a whole group lesson or in small group reading. The articles are about the following topics:

-Let it Snow
-Blizzards
-Dog Sledding
-Ice Skating
-Avalanche
-Snowmen History
-How to Make Snow Cream
-How to Make Hot Chocolate

Anchor charts to better explain close reading are also included.

I introduce the product with examples of how I use the articles in my personal classroom.

This packet is aligned with the Common Core, specifically the following standard:

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.CCRA.R.1 Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.
