Winter Writing Choice Board - Grade 6-8

This product includes 21 writing prompts on three choice boards for you to use with your students: one for narrative writing, one for informative/expository writing, and one for persuasive writing. Each board has 7 writing prompts with a winter theme. I have also included a marking rubric for each writing style.

Teacher Tips:

• Copy the choice board and the marking rubric back to back for each writing focus (narrative, informative, persuasive). That way your students have the evaluation criteria as they are writing their paragraphs.
• You might focus on one board per week and have your students choose one prompt per day to write in their journals or to complete as a quick write.
• You could have your students choose one (or more) prompt to craft a well-organized paragraph following the writing process to submit for a summative assessment.
• Because they require no-prep, these are great to leave with a substitute teacher if you have to be away!
• This activity could take 20 minutes, or you could use these choice boards for three full weeks. There are many ways you could use this resource to fit your students.
