    Description

    This resource contains five complete Reader's Theater activities for middle grade students for world history! The plays in this product cover world history from 700 B.C to 1600 A.D. and include Reader's Theaters for Ancient Greece, Medieval Europe/ Middle Ages, the Mongol Empire, Later Empires of the World, and the Renaissance and Reformation!

    Each play is a 5-Act, 25-role Reader's Theater script. Reader's Theater is an engaging instructional strategy for middle grade students that allows them to act out various historical scenes. This resource is a great review activity and assessment strategy. It also helps build fluency and reading comprehension skills!

    Each of the five acts in each play includes three questions for the class to discuss. There is a ten-question multiple choice quiz for students at the conclusion of each play for an assessment. Lastly, there is an extension activity for each play in which students will create their own script following each Reader's Theater.

    Answer keys are included for the quizzes.

    For Ancient Greece, the acts are as follows:

    Act I: Athens and Sparta Emerge

    Act II: Fighting off the Persians

    Act III: Entering the Classical Age

    Act IV: The Peloponnesian War

    Act V: Alexander the Great

    For Medieval Europe/ Middle Ages, the acts are as follows:

    Act I: Early Medieval Europe (Charlemagne/ The Vikings)

    Act II: The Feudal System

    Act III: The Church and the Crusades

    Act IV: Revival and Technology

    Act V: The Later Middle Ages (Famine/ The Black Death)

    For the Mongol Empire, the acts are as follows:

    Act I: Life as a Nomad

    Act II: The Rise of Genghis Khan

    Act III: The Empire Splits (Il-Khans, Golden Horde, Yuan Empire)

    Act IV: Unintended Consequences (Trade and Disease)

    Act V: Historical Legacy
