What better way to get to know your students (and their writing abilities) than with an "I Am" poem writing assignment about themselves? These poems make a GREAT writing project for Open House, Back to School Night, or beginning of year bulletin board and also make a great end of year poetry project! Students will write a 3-stanza poem about themselves. The poems help you get to know your new students, but also reveal students' writing skills. Examples are provided to get students started writing their rough draft. Final copy paper is also provided.
