What educators are saying

My students worked as groups to write a fable in a readers theater script format. This was one of the most engaging units we did all year. Definitely a student favorite! I tweak this to make it exactly what I needed, but over all, I loved how little prep it was! Very helpful!
This was exactly what I was looking for! It made writing a script so much easier for my students!! I will use this every year!

Description

This project guides students through the process of writing and performing a Reader's Theater scene, based on a short story. The materials can be used with any fiction text, so it can be differentiated for leveled small groups or adapted for any grade level!

Includes...

1. Three different graphic organizers for students to record information about the setting, characters, and plot of their text. (These really helped my students focus on the important details from the story that needed to be included in their script.)

2. Reader's Theater Script Template

3. Project Checklist

**You can also download my "Writing a Reader's Theater Script" slideshow for free! The presentation is designed to introduce the project to the whole class and guide students through the process. (I also put it on our Google Classroom, so groups could refer back to it as needed.)
