TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This will be my 19th year teaching! I have taught across a variety of settings and grade levels, spanning grades 2 through 8. I have taught in both rural and urban settings as an intervention specialist, an elementary classroom teacher, and a full-time mentor for new elementary teachers in our district. I am currently a K6 Reading Specialist.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love to create hands-on learning opportunities for students and motivate them to use critical thinking skills, connecting what they are learning in the classroom to the world around them.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

2014 Promise Hero Educator Award

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Ball State University (Muncie, Indiana) in 2004. I received my Masters in Special Education from Indiana University (Bloomington, Indiana) in 2008.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

When I am not teaching, I love photographing nature and people, journaling, and reading everything I can get my hands on! Also, I am trying to learn to love blogging. Haha!
