How to Write a Cinquain
This Smartboard activity teaches students how to write a cinquain, including practicing describing words (adjectives) and doing words (verbs). Students will see examples of completed cinquains, will practice writing a cinquain with the whole class, and will write a cinquain with their table group (or other cooperative group) on one of the topics listed (or an unlisted topic of choice, if applicable).
Writing an Essay: Planning Tools-Circle Map (Brainstorming)&FLEE map SMARTboard
I enjoy the use of these thinking maps for my students. It is a visual way to organize writing.
I start out with the CIRCLE MAP to brainstorm ideas related to a writing prompt. The topic is in the center of the circle and the brainstorm ideas are part of the outer circle. I tell my student to brainstorm the 5 W's (Who, did What, When, Where, and Why)

Here's another free one! This is the Peter Pan module. The file contains a lot of the things from the module to assist your instruction. It has each lesson identified and the worksheets and learning targets for each one. It can easily be changed and edited to make it your own. I've been using it for about 3 weeks now and I change it everyday to fit the needs of my instruction. Enjoy!
