This is a very in-depth assignment for building a concert program. It goes over philosophy, cultural considerations, exemplars, and resources for your students to thoughtfully put together a concert program. I find this assignment also cuts down my hours of listening to repertoire over the summer - I can go through my students selected pieces and start building next year's season based on their informed picks! The file is set up with a checklist of student tasks, and the basis for 4 classroom d

Piano 101 teaches students everything they need to know to look up chords online and accompany themselves on the piano on any song of their choice. It does not teach them how to read notes, but rather how to create any major or minor chord. I have found that this is something students really WANT to learn. This course will open a world of possibilities for your students and encourage them to continue music making at home!Of course it is better to have a keyboard at home, but students can learn t

'My Ukulele': Beginner Ukulele Worksheet, Study and Curriculum

When I first started teaching, I had absolutely 0 experience with teaching ukulele, yet my principal at the time decided it would be a great idea to purchase a classroom set! (At the time I was nervous, and had no idea how AMAZING this program would blossom into!) I remember sitting in a Starbucks wondering how the heck to get started, and I came up with this template for a beginner ukulele class. The first section is for the students to make observations about their instrument and ask questions

I have put up 2 booklets on right hand learning. This booklet is to use the left hand. The old songs but modified for left hand. As you know the piano or keyboard is made up of octaves, so using the left hand is similar to the right hand. It gets muscle memory for the left hand. I encourage singing along so they can play to their own singing tempo. My books are for musical fun not serious playing. The children can learn this when they have dexterity in both hands. Enjoy.
