This is an activity I've used with my science classes after learning about the scientific method to give students practice with forming hypotheses, conducting an experiment, collecting data, and observing and analyzing their results. Students first hypothesize how many drops they think will fit on each side of a penny, then conduct the experiment and record their results, and finally reflect on their data and compare it to their hypothesis.
