Lego WeDo Math Investigation 1
I used Lego WeDo robots for this math lesson, but it will work with any other robots you're using. Students work in groups of two or three to complete each step. Change the number of seconds traveled for subsequent lessons to give students practice adding larger numbers.

Do you teach measurement and want to step it up a little? Want to add a little more technology and robotics? This freebie is for you! It is simple and easy to use. All you need is paper, markers, and an Ozobot or 2. Using Ozobots is easy and simple. You can use programs like Ozoblockly or you can simply draw thick lines with markers. There are plenty of tutorials for you to look up! In this activity, the Ozobots are race cars and the students have to measure a track for the big race!

Want to use EV3s in a math lesson? This is a basic programming investigation that is simple enough for first-time EV3 users, but it also offers a fun, math-connected challenge for all students. I used it with 2nd grade students who could write expressions and add fluently. My advanced students connected multiplication as iterations of the rotation length.
