    Description

Third grade math students love this engaging note-taking format for learning and practicing concepts like adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, comparing fractions, equivalent fractions, area, perimeter, and more!

What is a math wheel? A math wheel is a type of graphic organizer where students can:

    • Take notes inside the math wheel
    • Use color, drawing, and doodling to help create memory triggers
    • Complete practice problems in the pattern around the wheel, and
    • Color the background pattern

Students can keep these graphic organizers in their interactive notebooks all year as a resource/study tool.

You can even enlarge the math wheels and use them as posters or anchor charts!

⭐️ This 3rd grade math wheel bundle WILL cover 20 topics (17 are currently included and the remaining 3 will be added by 6/5/24)

Each of the 20 math wheel files includes:

    • Math wheel (s) with sections for each step or definition, depending on the topic; THREE versions of each wheel:
      • One ‘open,’ with notes to be written in, offering the most flexibility to adjust to the notes you want to include
      • One with fill-in-the-blanks for the notes, to help control the amount of space students use
      • One with pre-filled notes for students who need this (these do not include answers)

    • Key with suggested notes
    • Colored sample
    • Editable PowerPoint file with a blank wheel so you can create your own math wheels (for classroom use only)

Features of these easy-to-use 3rd grade math resources:

    • Notes sections and examples
    • Guided practice or individual practice in the pattern around the circle
    • Coloring/doodling opportunity: students can color the background pattern, as well as the headings and doodle arrows, making the concepts a bit more memorable

These 3rd grade math wheels address the following topics:

What teachers are saying about math wheels

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Properties wheel:"Loved this! Used with my college level students who are going to school to become teachers to review. Will use with 4th grade next year."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"My students absolutely love using the wheel as notes. It makes it easy for them to find the information when they need it and they can kind of doodle as a writing so they don’t get bored."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"I love these math wheels!! I love using guided notes and these are fun and easy to use. The kids really like them and actually use them and refer back to them. Totally worth the money and a time saver!"

Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l). Add, subtract, multiply, or divide to solve one-step word problems involving masses or volumes that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem.
Use place value understanding to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.
Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.
Multiply one-digit whole numbers by multiples of 10 in the range 10–90 (e.g., 9 × 80, 5 × 60) using strategies based on place value and properties of operations.
Interpret products of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 5 × 7 as the total number of objects in 5 groups of 7 objects each. For example, describe a context in which a total number of objects can be expressed as 5 × 7.
