What educators are saying

I've been using this since the beginning of the school year and I LOVE IT! Great breakdowns of each topic that make things easy for my students to understand. It's easy to teach also, very organized, and covers the main ideas of each unit!
I bought this a few years ago and it is something I constantly use in my math classes. It helps to keep student notes organized and on topic. I really love that they have involvement, but don't have to write out everything. I have used this in binders and notebooks, which have both worked great.

Description

This math notebook is full of guided notes for all 6th grade math standards. A great way to introduce new concepts, or review for state testing. These notes are full of step-by-step instructions, key vocabulary words, examples, and practice opportunities. These guided notes allow for engagement and interaction during instruction, without having to copy too much down. They also serve as a great way to introduce a concept and create a valuable resource for students to use both at home and at school.

These notes are the product of 11 years of using 6th grade math notes in class and adapting/editing the product each year to be sure I have a comprehensive and easy to understand resource for all my students. Included are all 6th grade Common Core standards as well as a few review and extension concepts I have found beneficial for my students. A teacher's guide is also included with answers. Please note, these notes are in a PDF format and are not editable.

The following concepts are covered with at least one page of notes:

Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes; apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Find the volume of a right rectangular prism with fractional edge lengths by packing it with unit cubes of the appropriate unit fraction edge lengths, and show that the volume is the same as would be found by multiplying the edge lengths of the prism. Apply the formulas 𝘝 = 𝘭 𝘸 𝘩 and 𝘝 = 𝘣 𝘩 to find volumes of right rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Draw polygons in the coordinate plane given coordinates for the vertices; use coordinates to find the length of a side joining points with the same first coordinate or the same second coordinate. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Represent three-dimensional figures using nets made up of rectangles and triangles, and use the nets to find the surface area of these figures. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Recognize a statistical question as one that anticipates variability in the data related to the question and accounts for it in the answers. For example, “How old am I?” is not a statistical question, but “How old are the students in my school?” is a statistical question because one anticipates variability in students’ ages.
