Description
Students will gain a well-rounded understanding of the complex world of schizophrenia in abnormal psychology. Through a video KWL, they will start their learning and discussion. Expert groups will explore topics such as symptoms, treatments, and real life examples. They will also grapple with the difficult question of nature vs. nurture. Students then solidify their knowledge by teaching each other about their topic. Finally, they all synthesize their learning by writing to a 2007 AP Psychology prompt about schizophrenia. This resource has students actively engaged in every step of the process. It includes learning targets, lesson plans (with suggested timing) links to resources, printable graphic organizers, and an assessment piece with a link to the AP rubric used to score.
All lessons include a detailed lesson plan with learning targets and essential questions, clear directions, links where appropriate, ready-to-copy interactive pages, bellringers, and formative assessment exit tickets. All resources are timed for a 90 minute block, but can easily be adapted to your needs
I've also started including separate pdf pages and images of the lesson so it can be more flexible and easily assigned in a digital classroom. Many of the pages of the pdf are also included as individual PowerPoint pages that the students can type right on, save, and submit to your LMS.
