Description
***Afghan Cameleers-Migration in Australia Interactive Gallery Walk***
This Afghan Cameleers in Australia lesson is an interactive gallery walk activity that blends visual information, movement, and critical thinking skills. This Gallery Walk will be using primary sources and image-specific questions that focus on early Afghan Migrants to Australia with a particular focus on Afghan Cameleers. It is best used after students have a basic understanding of the life and experiences of the early Afghan migrants to Australia. Some prior introduction to primary sources is useful as well so they are better equipped to analyse each type here. Students will draw conclusions and use their deductive reasoning skills. It serves as an excellent addition to your Migration in Australia unit.
Topics include: Living and working conditions of Cameleers, reasons for migration, treatment of the Afghan Cameleers and more.
There are 8 images included in this Gallery Walk, but you can choose to include as many as you wish depending on the amount of time you have and how deep you want discussions to go. Place the images on the wall around your classroom. Students can start at ANY image and they do not need to be done in order.
