What educators are saying

This was a fun activity for my middle schoolers as we started a unit on Music Genres. It was nice to have all the information already put together for me; a 'print and go' lesson. The classes seemed to really enjoy solving the puzzles.
I have only used the Jazz and Blues escape room sets, but most of my students have enjoyed both. They liked trying to figure out the answers to the different puzzles. I used it as a final activity in the genre I have been teaching. I plan to use the others in the set.

    Description

This American Music Genres BUNDLE includes all-in-one lessons to teach your students about music genres over the past 150 years in a fun and engaging way. Simply share the google form link with students and they are ready to go! Students will search for answers on the internet as they learn about the musical genres below:

    5 Escape Rooms included

    1. Blues

    2. Jazz

    3. Country

    4. Rock

    5. Hip-hop & Rap

    Included in each Room:

    • Google form escape room - easily assign to students with a single link
    • Each escape room has 5-7 puzzles and 2-3 challenges included
    • Answer Key (allows you to use as a simple, no prep sub plan)
    • Optional printable challenges (Challenges can be done on scrap paper, but printed versions make them easier to solve.)

    Variety of time options:

Jazz, Blues & Rock are longer with 7 puzzles and 3 challenges each. Estimated time to finish is around 35-40 minutes but this can vary greatly depending on the age of students and whether or not they work in teams.

Country & Hip-Hop/Rap have 5 puzzles and 2 challenges each. This allows them to be completed in closer to 30-35 minutes - again depending on the age of students and number of students working together.

The entire activity is within a Google form (will be delivered by TPT to your Google Drive) and the students will need internet access for research and Youtube access for the videos. (If YouTube is not available, you could provide answers to any questions that require YouTube – most do not.) Scrap paper or a digital notepad can be helpful for deciphering the challenges. Or, if preferred, printable versions of the challenges are included in the folder as well.

If you are not familiar with Google Forms, please read the DIRECTIONS & HELPFUL TIPS before opening the form so you will know how to use the resource. The Directions & Helpful Tips should be in the google folder that TPT shares with you after purchase.
