What educators are saying

This was a great resource to use with my multi-categorical middle school class. I was able to differentiate to use with a wide variety of instructional levels. Students were excited to put the poster together and see the final product.
My class has received so many compliments on this amazing poster hanging in our building. It was a fun activity.

Description

This activity is intended to complement/supplement any lessons on NASA, space, or Apollo 11/landing on the moon teachings or celebrations. Use this project at the end of the school year, during the summer, or celebrate the Apollo 11 mission with your students.

This collaborative poster is the perfect way to start a unit or cap one off. It is an engaging and entertaining way for students to work together to create a large poster that features Neil Armstrong's quote, "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."

The final poster makes a great classroom focal point and a lasting example of collaboration for your students - not to mention the reminder of what is possible for our future generations!

There are two options so you can choose what works best for you and your students. Both options are very easy. Each student is given one page of the poster to color according to the instructions on each sheet. Once all sheets are colored and cut out, they are assembled to reveal a large collaboration mosaic/poster/mural with Neil Armstrong's inspirational and famous quote.

Poster #1 - The colors have been assigned. Students will follow the colors assigned using a color key on each page.

Poster #2 - The colors have NOT been assigned. Let your students color the poster whatever colors they want (or that you assign).

Poster details:

  • Each poster option has 30 pages
  • Each piece of the poster fits on regular 8.5" x 11" copy paper
  • The final poster is a 5 x 6 grid that is approximately 35" x 42" (final poster size will depend on your printer settings.

Bonus Coloring Pages:

Group collaboration posters are a lot of fun and leave a lasting impression. However, students don’t get to walk away with anything tangible to show their families. I have included two bonus coloring pages for your students to have. These are also very useful for early finishers - one features the NASA logo, and one features the design of this poster with Neil Armstrong's quote.

This resource also comes with all the instructions for creating the poster, putting it together, final example, and even options for ways you can color the poster or print it smaller - it's all included!
