Description

*Requires printing/cutting cards before class

The lesson begins with an introduction to African geography and the Bantu migration. Students are given a map with the years of migration and they have to draw in the migration pattern with arrows.

For the main activity, the teacher should print and cut out the descriptions of the causes and effects and put them in envelopes to give the students (the first three are the causes and the last three are the effects). Next, have students organize the causes and effects of the Bantu Migration and summarize it in their graphic organizer.

Students use the information and their knowledge of the movement of people in the world today to discuss if the movement of people has a positive or negative impact on world history. For their exit ticket, students answer a free response question where they have to explain one cause and one effect of the Bantu Migration in their own words.
