Sound Cards with Visuals:

I use these cards with visual aids in my first grade EL classroom. It includes the power bar and visual aids that help the student figure out the sound to match with the spelling. This mimics the Inidvidual Code Charts. Contains letter cards with visuals for the following sounds taught in Grade 1 CKLA Units 1-7.

Short vowels- a, e, i, o, and u

Consonants- b and bb, d and dd, f and ff, g and gg, l and ll, m and mm, n and nn, p and pp, r and rr, s and ss, t and tt, z and zz, c, cc, and ck

Consonant Digraphs- sh, ch, th, and ng (ing-ang-ong)

Separated Digraphs- a-e, i-e, o-e, and u-e

Vowel Digraphs- ee, oo (both), ou, oi and aw

R-controlled vowels- er, ar, and or

Ending- -ed as (d, t, ed)

Spelling Alternatives “Tricky Spellings”- tch, soft g, ge, ve, wr, soft c, ce, se, kn, wh

Vowel Spelling Alternatives- ai, ay, oa

Individual Vowel AND Consonant Code Chart:

This code chart can be used for students to keep at their desk for reference, in small group, and also during the warm up Speedy Sound Hunt. One includes just the vowel cards and one includes vowel cards and visuals for the sound.
