What educators are saying

We used this resource for engaging students in increasing their reading skills.. Perfectly aligned. It helped with my ESL students as well as my lower ed students. Easy to use and the students were engaged

Description

Colors of the Wind is a fantastic song, and a perfect way to introduce the conversation to students about Native American beliefs and Ways of Life. This could also be a great Thanksgiving activity for students to explain to students how the Natives felt when they first had contact with settlers coming to the new world.

Songs make a great impact on student learning, and when there is a chance to analyze the text, the learning that takes place is unbelievable.

Song lyrics, 8 close reading questions (included are both the handouts with questions, as well as task cards with the same questions, just so you have a preference on how to do the activity with students), and theme/author's purpose graphic organizers are all included in with this guide.

Students will deepen their understanding and use critical thinking skills to understand the meaning of the song with the questions included.

The lyrics, the metaphors, and the overall theme of this song will create conversation with your students which will have them thinking deeply while reading the text.

Look for more close reading songs soon in my TpT store. :)

Thanks for looking.
