What educators are saying

This is one of my favorite purchases ever! I did one with my kids. It's great for teaching growth mindset!
Easily one of the best projects I have had my homeroom complete. The finished products still hang in the hallway.

Description

Your students will love having "conversations" with famous people as they work on having a growth mindset and improving their grit! On these growth mindset coloring pages, I've included quotes from some "famous failures" along with questions that prompt students to think about their grit. This will allow them to have a bit of a "conversation" with these inspirational people. Makes a fun social emotional learning activity as well.

Students often see famous, successful people and think they were just born that way and didn't have to overcome obstacles. That is why students (and adults) are so fascinated by famous people who have had failures (often lots of them) along the way and yet worked through them to become successful. It turns out these "famous failures" were very gritty!

There are 16 people included in this growth mindset coloring pages resource! Students read the quotes, respond to the writing prompts to get them thinking about their "grittiness," and then color in the comic book-type images when finished that make a great bulletin board or wall display.

I've tried to select a variety of people so you can use them at different times of the year (or all at once).

Students can each do a different page, or you can pull out ones that apply to what you are learning.

  • For example, during Black History Month, you could pull out Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, and President Obama.
  • During Women's History Month, you could pull out Mother Teresa, Amelia Earhart, and Malala Yousafzai.
  • If you are doing a unit on space, pull out Sally Ride and so on.

Included are:

• Shirley Chisholm

• Frida Kahlo

• Steve Jobs

• Maya Angelou

• Sally Ride

• Malala Yousafzai

• Dr. Seuss

• Amelia Earhart

• Mother Teresa

• Nelson Mandela

• Albert Einstein

• Henry Ford

• Leonardo Da Vinci

• Katherine Johnson

• Martin Luther King Jr.

• Barack Obama

I've created this resource for you to use in your classroom to help you talk to your students about grit and introduce students to some successful folks who have overcome failures and setbacks by having a growth mindset and grit.
