Description

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) shows are all the rage now... Who doesn't love a good mystery? Your students will just flip over the interactive hands-on activities included in this Common Core aligned unit! There are a multitude of learning opportunities, in a variety of subjects.

Included you will find:
~Crime Scene Investigator Badges for students to wear during unit.

~Schema Building and Vocabulary Activities: Here you'll find word wall cards, brainstorming printables, a vocabulary notebook, and a term matching center.

~CSI Magazine: This full-page magazine is all about how crime scenes are investigated. Your students will just love the color photographs and topics described in the magazine. It also comes in black and white for easier copying. There is also an article about fingerprinting. Before, during, and after reading printables are included. These are all meant to be used during guided reading or small groups.

~CSI Tools Mini-Reader: Also meant to be used in guided reading groups, this reader is half-paged and perfect for little hands to read themselves! It is interactive, as students are asked to draw/write on each page.

~Writing Printables: Perfect for informal assessments and/or homework assignments.

~Make Your Own CSI Kit: Students will have so much fun learning about making their own crime scene investigator kits. There are activities included for students to show what they've learned about how CSI tools are used.

~Make a Keyhole Spyglass: Students can make this craftivity to have their own spy gadget. All instructions are included; materials are easy to find and are on hand.

~Forensic Science Investigation: This scientific method investigation is all about making your own fingerprints. Students will make their own prints and follow the procedure on the investigation printables. They'll record their data and findings, matching their prints to the three types.

~Fingerprint Class Graph: Use the information found in the investigation to make a class graph about the most popular type of fingerprint in class. All materials are included to make a large graph; a printable is also included to record findings and make a graph.

~Fingerprint Friends: Students will find another student with the same type of fingerprint as them and use their detective skills to interview them and find interesting facts about them. They'll then write a paragraph introducing their fingerprint friend.
