Description

Teaching properties of minerals and want something to DO?! Build the crystal shapes! Take the single most boring aspect of minerals, and make it FUN! First, students will take notes with this 23 slide PPT and student fill-in the blank notes that describe and show pictures of the six main crystal shapes. Students then color, cut out, and build the crystal shapes, either as individuals, pairs, or in small groups. One-of-a-kind, original cut-outs are labeled with crystal shape name, description, and example of mineral with that structure. Students then draw the crystal shapes given descriptions.
