What educators are saying

My 8th graders loved this activity! It was great to do something creative after state testing! With the one word, my ELL and ESE kiddos did not feel overwhelmed!
My students loved doing this activity ! It was a welcome break after reviewing for testing coming up ! They were really creative with their drawings.

Description

Students love this lesson that allows them to create their own piece of art from an old dictionary page. This lesson has a great connection to Language arts by having students create a piece of artwork using a word from the dictionary that lends meaning to the definition. I am an art teacher however, so for ELA standards, you are on your own.

This lesson works really for early-finishers and as a substitute lesson.

Included is a 24 page PowerPoint with step-by-step instructions, student process and final pieces of student work in an editable powerpoint Student Self-Evaluation in editable word document that centers on the art piece of the lesson.
