Teach and practice finding new prices after discounts, markups, tax, and tip with this pack of resources on percent of change!
This resource includes 3 different versions of a page of guided notes (that students can glue in their math notebooks or include in their math binders), a skills practice worksheet, and an application practice worksheet.
The notes page includes definitions and step-by-step instructions with examples to show students exactly how to find discounts and markups, as well as sales tax and tips. There are also a few examples for students to solve independently on the notes page. (There are 3 different versions of the notes page for this lesson for 3 different methods that can be used - one that uses the percent of change proportion; one that has students multiply the percent by the original price, and then add/subtract at the end; and one that has students find the new prices in one-step by finding the total percent and multiplying. Use whichever version you prefer or allow students to decide for themselves which version works for them!)
The skills practice page has students practice finding discounts, markups, tax, and tip with 15 straightforward practice problems.
The application practice page consists of 7 real-world word problems that require students to apply the lesson to different situations. Some of these problems are multiple steps and require higher level thinking.
Answer keys for all pages are included.
