Description

This all-encompassing unit covers the six empires of Ming/Qing China, Mughal India, Safavid, Ottoman, and Tokugawa Japan. With these comprehensive activities, you can guide your students through an immersive exploration of the cultural, political, and economic aspects of these six influential empires, fostering a deeper understanding of global history. Additionally, the unit incorporates interactive activities and assessments that cater to different learning styles, ensuring that every student can actively participate and excel in their studies.


Included are:

  1. Readings for each empire with a corresponding graphic organizer with answer key (both on the chart and highlighted within the reading [corresponding color is listed by category on the chart]).
  2. Timeline activity for each empire.
  3. Global map activity that looks at each empire (includes research component).
  4. Dating profile” for an empire. This can be done in any number of ways. Each student can do all of the empires, they can “draw straws” for selection, culminate the activity with “speed dating” in small groups, individually, etc.
  5. Ending cumulative activity of comparing/contrasting the empires to the superpower of the United States with the end goal of writing a letter to the President to explain what the United States needs to do to remain in their superpower status and not fall as the other empires did (rubric included).
