Students are taught about the Enlightenment movement and influential figures such as Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Charles de Montesquieu, Voltaire, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Then, students are introduced to the religious movement that unites the colonies, the First Great Awakening, and learn about Jonathan Edwards, George Whitefield, and the teachings of the Great Awakening movement. Students complete guided notes throughout this entire presentation that correspond perfectly to the PowerPoint to understand how both movements impacted life in the American colonies.
