Description

There are 56 country fact cards.

Each card shows the location of the country shaded in on a world map.

Facts listed are population, language(s), Agriculture, Life Expectancy, natural resources, exports, environmental issues, natural hazards, currency, and a picture of the flag.

These cards can be used in several different ways.
*Make 4 copies of each of the countries you would like to focus on and have students play “Go Fish”.

*Make 2 copies of each country you would like students to focus on and have them play a matching game by turning cards over and trying to find the match.

*Order the cards from greatest to least population, life expectancy, or square miles.

*Cards can be used to promote inquiry/questioning for students to want to learn more about each country. Compare countries and list any "I wonders and I notice".

*A card with questions for students to use is included.
Some questions include:
What is the exchange rate of each countries currency?
What causes acid rain and what impact does it have on the environment?
What is causing the deforestation in some countries? Is it for the same reason in all countries?
Why is life expectancy so short in certain countries?
What is causing each countries water and/or air pollution?
What causes some of the natural hazards?Ie: geological structure, location, mountains, etc…
What is causing some of the environmental issues? What is something we can do to improve the issues?

*Checklist of country card and world maps included.

*One card has picture of the world with flags representing the different countries on one map, while the second map displays just the outline of the world.

*The first card with a colorful peace sign can be printed on the back side of the cards.

*Blank fact cards can be used for students to research a country they choose.

Please note that the cards do not have all resources and hazards listed.
