What educators are saying

I had students work on this when I had to unexpectedly be out. We had done the Ancient Rome guided notes together, then I had them work through the fall of the Roman Empire independently. The sources worked great to show the many factors that led to Rome's fall and make a visual.
Thank you for this! My students were very engaged. The sources were interesting and varied, and required some critical thinking to interpret. The paragraph and political cartoon were great ways for them to show me what they learned in two different formats.

Description

In this Fall of Rome DBQ student resource Investigation, students explore 7 short documents (5 text, 1 chart, 1 map), to ultimately answer the question: "Why exactly did the Roman Empire fall?" Students analyze 7 documents and complete a bubble-map organizer before completing a "snowball effect" organizer to link the reasons for Rome's decline!

Students will be introduced to many different reasons for the fall of Rome, including the spread of Christianity, the rise of inflation, invasions from outside forces, the decline of the military, and much more! Students construct an essay once finished and use the included prompt to organize their thoughts!
