Gloria Steinem Web Quest Activity | Diverse Voices Project | 3 Part Web Quest

This Gloria Steinem activity is part of an exciting new project designed to increase diverse voices in Social Studies classrooms. This Gloria Steinem activity is a 3-part web quest. In Part 1 (READ), students engage with Gloria Steinems' legacy, her career as a journalist and supporter of women's rights and equality, the feminist movement, her youth and education at Smith College in Massachusetts, her study abroad experience in India that inspired much of her work, her contributions to New York magazine and as a public speaker, the creation of the National Women's Political Caucus, her recognition by President Barack Obama with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and much more. Part 2 (WATCH) is a short video that students watch to reaffirm Steinem's amazing impact on American History as she challenged gender barriers everywhere and advanced the fight for women's equality. In Part 3 (INTERPRET), students engage in a primary source analysis related to Steinem's legacy, specifically in regard to her successful career as a writer in supporting women's rights.
