What educators are saying

Lessons were really engaging for students. It was super easy to follow with how everything was laid out.
Really good resource, my students found it really interesting and it has lots of assessment opportunities, including anecdotal, oral and written.

Description

The Grade 2, Unit 3: Substance Use, Addictions, and Related Behaviours resource is aligned with the 2019 Ontario Health and Physical Education curriculum expectations. Featuring five full-length lessons, students are introduced to what medicine is, the difference between prescription and non-prescription medicine, and the importance of being safe with medicine.

About the Resource:

This resource focuses on introducing students to the difference between prescription and non-prescription medicine. Students develop an understanding of the proper use of all medicines and the importance of ensuring that we are aware of what we are taking and how it is being taken. Students will also focus in on giving examples of both prescription and non-prescription medicine. The second portion of this activity packet focuses on methods that may be used instead of or in combination with medication to maintain good health and prevent or treat various health problems. Among these methods include healthy eating, taking care of our bodies by exercising to relieve headaches and getting more sleep to help get rid of a cold.

Please note that this resource does not feature any digital components. This is a printable resource. This resource is also intended to be supplemental which means that you may need to supplement the lessons with additional activities, readings, and assessments depending on the needs of students.
