What educators are saying

Thank you for this fun + engaging activity. I like to assign them to my students after they have finished a unit test. My students enjoy completing them!
This was a great end of the year activity that kept my students engaged. It was also a great review on graphing!!

Description

Students will love taking this “Summer Personality Test” while getting practice plotting points on a coordinate plane!

First students mark if they agree or disagree with statements such as…

  • I like when it’s hot outside.
  • Water parks are fun.
  • I like to catch fireflies.
  • I like lemonade.

Then they graph and connect ordered pairs using different colors depending on their responses. The image of a sun appears! Each sun will be unique (in colors) to the person who made it.

Students with "summer personalities" will create warm-colored suns. Students who are not so “summery” will create cool-colored suns.

The finished graphs make great classroom decoration leading up to summer break!

Two versions are included: all 4 quadrants and 1st quadrant only.

You will receive a PDF of the resource.

Use a pair of perpendicular number lines, called axes, to define a coordinate system, with the intersection of the lines (the origin) arranged to coincide with the 0 on each line and a given point in the plane located by using an ordered pair of numbers, called its coordinates. Understand that the first number indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of one axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the second axis, with the convention that the names of the two axes and the coordinates correspond (e.g., 𝘹-axis and 𝘹-coordinate, 𝘺-axis and 𝘺-coordinate).
Understand a rational number as a point on the number line. Extend number line diagrams and coordinate axes familiar from previous grades to represent points on the line and in the plane with negative number coordinates.
Find and position integers and other rational numbers on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram; find and position pairs of integers and other rational numbers on a coordinate plane.
