What educators are saying

This was a great way for me to fit in students' practice of word roots as a part of their morning work. I even learned a few new words!
I used this for small group and class rotations. Students loved learning new words and where they came from!

Greek and Latin roots (*and Old English, too) are the building blocks of over 70% of the words in the English language. They are found in words that students encounter in all subjects - words like biography, chronological, coordinate, polygon, reciprocal, and more. By teaching students the meaning of prefixes, roots, and suffixes, we give them the ability to decode unfamiliar words from across the curriculum.

These worksheets are unique because the roots are grouped thematically. For example, roots related to geometrical shapes are on one worksheet - gon (angle), cycl (circle), shape (morph), side (later), etc. The thematic grouping adds interest and aids comprehension and memorization.

The worksheets align with all our other Greek and Latin roots resources.
