Description
In this lesson, high school graphic design or art students create a poster using hand-drawn letterforms and colored pencils on black board to create a piece of art that resembles chalkboard art, but that lasts forever. A great lesson for secondary students to learn about composition, typography, and graphic design.
In this lesson student will learn to:
- Go through the process of creating art, thumbnails, rough draft and final art.
- Explore positive and negative space in the composition of their chalkboard quotes.
- Learn to apply blending in colored pencil through the use of analogous colors.
- Practice and apply the principle of unity through the use of decorative elements, color schemes and letterforms or shapes.
- Demonstrate the principle of emphasis in their final artwork.
