Description
In this historical truth or lie "back to school" game, students will work to undercover 5 historical truths and 5 historical lies to "break the ice" of the first days of school. This activity includes a traditional classroom version AND a distance learning digital version!
This back-to-school historical truth or lies game is a follow-up to my Volume 1 best seller version -- many people requested it, so here it is.
Students will work individually or in collaborative pairs to put forth their best guesses as to which 5 statements are truths and which 5 are lies. After students have completed the 10 historical (and fictional) stations, the included guiding PowerPoint walks through each station and sets the record straight. Students learn about each included station to go deeper into the content.
For example Station #3 states...
"The Ancient Mayans feared bees more than any other creature, and just the mere sight of one caused people to abandon their village and build new someplace else."
This statement is a LIE, and the slide adds...
"The Mayans were not terrified of bees. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Mayans kept beehives in their homes and they were often passed down from generation to generation. They took great care of the bees in order to harvest the honey they produced and to worship their bee god, Ah-Muzen-Cab."
Enjoy this exciting and fun way to start the school year!
