Description

*Digital resource included.* An alphabet related to the IB PYP brings connection and discussion to the daily learning of our letters. Creating your own posters for the alphabet word wall brings student agency. This resource can be used all year long, progressively developing connections with the language of the IB PYP and inquiry-based learning.

Created for little kids, this PYP teaching tool has vocabulary connections for each of the 26 letters making a practical bulletin board and word wall display. It also comes with an activity that brings agency to the classroom community, once the children are more familiar with the vocabulary of the PYP. This brings the PYP to the forefront of the early years classroom, as the children learn the sounds of the letters and can then connect those sounds with the elements of the Primary Years Programme. These are common words that will be used frequently within an inquiry-based classroom and so become a daily part of the IB PYP child’s school day.

You will find a combination of words from the Learner Profile, attitudes, concepts and elements, all with

“ I can” statements, bringing a sense of ownership and a growth mindset as the children learn the vocabulary common to the PYP.

The display can be kept on your bulletin board all year long, bringing an easy reference tool for both letters and authentic vocabulary. Gradually, add the children’s own poster creations which naturally brings that sense of community and agency. Alternatively, the children can create their own booklet of ABC vocabulary.

You can also find this PYP teaching tools for big kids here.
