What educators are saying

This is an extremely thorough presentation of music history. I was pleased with how many historical events were given for each time period and the music that was listed for the listening.

    • A listening library of examples from each era
    • An assessment for each unit with an answer key

    Concepts covered include:

    • The historical and societal context for each era
    • General musical characteristics and developments
    • Notable composers of each period
    • Standard forms and practices of each era

This course is designed to last one semester (90 class days of 40-minute periods). The length can be adjusted by eliminating or adding content to suit your curricular needs.

Note: PPT presentation is too large open or convert in Google Slides, but the PDF version can be uploaded and shared through Google Classroom.

The PDFs are protected from editing for copyright purposes. The PPT includes matching blank slides for any information or embedded videos you would like to add. You cannot edit the slide content, but you can add information.

The unit assessments do not contain point values to provide flexibility in grading. Assessments are also sectioned by page, so you can eliminate assessment elements as desired.
