Maroo of the Winter Caves: CCSS Aligned Novel Unit, Activities, and Tests

For prehistoric times it is hard to find a novel better than this one by Ann Turnbull. The chapter questions lead students through the experiences of ancient times while reinforcing student study skills. This unit contains -

- Student response questions and activities for every chapter ANSWER KEYS INCLUDED,

- a word search for names in the novel,

- worksheets for spelling and vocabulary by chapter group: Ch 1 to 4, Ch 5 to 8, Ch 9 to 16,

- plus a review sheet.

- TWO tests are included: Ch 1 to 8; Ch 9 to 16. Each is two pages, WITH ANSWER KEYS.

A tri-fold research project including teacher instructions and student handouts and matrices is here as well. It has a list of possible topics, too.

A topic specific journal matrix is included and instructions and outline for creating an essay from this are here as well. This aligns with 6+1 traits: Ideas, Organization, Sentence Fluency, and Voice.
