Description

Matter - Physical and Chemical Properties and Changes: This PowerPoint is straightforward and exactly outlines and explains the difference between physical properties of matter and chemical properties of matter. Many examples are given of both. Physical properties are broken down into intensive vs extensive properties. Examples are given of both.

Physical and chemical changes are explained in a simple and straightforward way. Many examples are given of both.

Following the notes, students classify a list of properties as either physical or chemical. Students also classify a list of changes as either physical or chemical.

Also included as an intro (depending on the level of your class):

Students know more about physical and chemical properties than they think! Begin with a reading that gives descriptions of two children. Students will organize their physical and character traits and then define each. A second reading describes physical and chemical properties of substances, after which students will make the leap to classifying physical and chemical properties. This resource is part of my Matter Bundle with Student Workbook.
